During the last 25 years Afghanistan has suffered
through war and due to its after
effects 5.5 million Afghans left the country to neighboring Pakistan
in search of
a new life. Soon they discovered that life is not easy either in their newfound host
countries. The majority of Afghans displaced are in Pakistan they are not
always the poor and the under privileged, sizable sector are from Afghanistan's
middle class society. They are educated and seek a higher standard of education
and life for their children. Schools are difficult even for their own nationals in
Pakistan to pay, so when it comes to placement for Afghans displaced the
students in academic institutions, Pakistan is unable to cope in an already
over-stretched education System. Consequently Afghans in Pakistan open their
own schools for their children. This means that they follow the syllabus followed
in Afghanistan, which in turn means they encounter problems with the education
economically. At this difficult situation, they are caught up in Estiqlal Lycee
High School established in 1994 in Islamabad. This school has
established by
Mohammad Sharif Salehie with the help and corporation Kabul Estiqlal
Lycee School
graduated students, Mr Saboor Mr Yama Baran, Mr Waleed, Miss Lailoma Jan,
Mr Sher Shah Sarbaz with 23 teachers, who offer their services on a voluntary
basis,
run this school. There are 286 students here from ages 6 to 19. The School is
constructed as
three-rooms flat and an office with one toilet and is run in three shifts.
